Barclays has had a presence in Glasgow since 1986. As at October 2018, the company has over 2500 people in Scotland across operations, technology, HR and client facing roles. On 23 July 2018, Barclays announced the decision to build a new state-of-the-art campus in Glasgow, a development which will transform Buchanan Wharf. This is a significant commitment to Scotland, with the prospect of up to 2,500 new jobs.
