31 dips in 31 days with 31 people.. 2 to go!

We are now reaching the end of August which means our Director of Membership Services Jayne Currie has only a couple of swims left for her fundraiser “31 dips in 31 days with 31 people” left to complete.

The fundraiser does exactly what it says on the tin and involves Jayne swimming with 31 different people once a day for the month of August with the goal of raising £2,000 for our Scottish Financial Services Awards charity sponsor Refuweegee.

The Scottish Financial Services Awards take place annually and is used as a platform to showcase the contributions that our member firms and their employees have made to the financial sector.

Each year a charity is chosen to be the Scottish Financial Services Awards Charity Partner and this year that charity is Refuweegee. Refuweegee are a community-based charity in Glasgow whose goal is to welcome refugee’s into Scotland with open arms and ensure they feel at home. Their hard work has led to them providing over 10,000 personal welcome packs and emergency support packs to people across the whole of Scotland.

So far on her goal, Jayne has swam with a variety of people including former and current colleagues, family and friends. She has braved all conditions in order to achieve her goal so far including poor conditions and late night swims. If you are interested Jayne’s journey you can check out her LinkedIn page where she been posting daily throughout the month of August.

As we head into the final days of August, Jayne had this to say on her challenge:

“Thanks to everyone who has supported me by braving the waters and all those who have already donated to our annual awards charity partner, Refuweegee.  I will share my story with a blog once I have completed my 31 swims…only 2 to go!”

“Thanks to everyone who has supported me by braving the waters and all those who have already donated to our annual awards charity partner, Refuweegee.”

Selina Hales, Founder and CEO at Refuweegee also had this to say on Jayne’s challenge:

"Fundraising is an absolutely critical part of what Refuweegee is able to do and we love when people come up with innovative ways to be able to not only raise awareness of our work but raise vital funds for the people we work with. Unrestricted funds like this mean that we can meet the exact needs of people arriving in Glasgow. This can be anything from travel passes to food support to digital device support.

“A huge thank you to Jayne for choosing Refuweegee to include in this challenge."

All donations are hugely appreciated by Jayne and the entire SFE team, if you wish to donate to Refuweegee and help fund their new kitchen you can donate using the link below on their JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rachel-kennedy25
