Ed Balls returns as host for 2023 Scottish Financial Services Awards

SFE are pleased to announce that Former Economic Secretary to the Treasury and Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, Ed Balls, will host the 2023 Scottish Financial Services Awards in Edinburgh in October.

The annual Scottish Financial Services Awards, sponsored by EY, are the industry-wide celebration recognising the contribution that firms and individuals have made to the sector and to wider society.

Ed is returning to host the awards by popular demand following his memorable appearance as host at last year’s ceremony in Glasgow.

Having left politics he now has roles at Harvard and King’s College alongside a new life encompassing everything from Strictly, Good Morning Britain and chairing Norwich City FC.

Ed Balls, said: “I thorough enjoyed the 2022 Scottish Financial Services Awards and am delighted to be hosting again this year for what I am sure will be another memorable occasion.

“I look forward to celebrating the different examples of innovation, collaboration and determination that characterise Scotland’s financial services industry, as well as hearing more about the sector’s vision for sustainable, inclusive growth.”

Sandy Begbie CBE FRSE, Chief Executive, Scottish Financial Enterprise, said: “Following the success of last year’s awards, we’re pleased to have Ed again for this year’s ceremony.

“We have received a record number of nominations for this year’s awards and are excited to be launching our new sector growth strategy at the ceremony. All these components together put us on track for our most exciting awards night to date.”
